Collingwood Beach Dunes Vandalised
Shoalhaven City Council is disappointed that someone has once again vandalised the dunes at Collingwood Beach. Council adopted the Collingwood Beach Dune Vegetation two-year trial Action Plan at the Development Meeting in August which includes a vegetation restoration site. Council officers found approximately 30 mature banksia trees and saplings inside the restoration site were cut down, lopped or topped. Shoalhaven Set to Begin Water Restrictions
Shoalhaven residents will be on Level 1 Water Restrictions from 3 September 2018. Level 1 restrictions ban the washing down of hard surfaces such as paths and driveways and allow the use of a hand-held hose at any time for gardening and lawn watering and washing of vehicles and boats.  Sprinklers, drip irrigation and topping up of existing swimming pools can be used, but hoses must be connected to a timer. Mayor's Fundraising Appeal for Tully
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Amanda Findley, has opened the Mayoral Appeal for the family of the bushfire helicopter pilot, Allan “Tully” Tull. Council Meetings Now Webcasted
Shoalhaven City Council will now be webcasting all the Council Meetings held at the Council Chambers of the Nowra Administration Building, ensuring all the community can see how decisions are made. Mayor Amanda Findley said, “Webcasting will provide transparency of Council decisions so people who cannot attend meetings can watch them from the comfort of their home and learn results of meetings instantly. Boongaree, a New Name for Berry District Park Chosen
The community has spoken and the planned Berry District Park on North Street Berry has a new name. After extensive community consultation on the proposed name change for the park, the community voted for and Shoalhaven City Council has endorsed the name “Boongaree”. Boongaree (Boon-ga-ree) is the original Indigenous name given to the area of Berry by the Wodi Wodi people of the Dharawal nation. Bomaderry Flying Fox Colony
Shoalhaven City Council has been granted $47,130 under the Local Government NSW (LG NSW) Stream 1 Flying-fox grant program to manage the Bomaderry Grey-Headed Flying Fox population and the effect they have on residential properties and owners. Paws and Think on Responsible Dog Ownership
Dogs are more and more becoming part of the family with over 42,000 dogs registered in the Shoalhaven – nearly one dog for every three households. However, some dogs can be dangerous. New Animal Shelter Opens
Shoalhaven City Council has officially opened the new Shoalhaven Animal Shelter at 19 Nowra Hill Road, Nowra Hill (BTU Road entry). The Council operated shelter aims to ensure the animals that are found receive the best support and can be adopted to caring people.
