Managing Illegal Camping - Bendalong
On Tuesday 21st November Council considered a Notice of Motion at the Strategy and Assets Meeting, on the management of illegal camping at Red Head beaches (Bendalong), during the summer period. This will be further considered at Council's Ordinary Council meeting.  It was recommended that Council take immediate action to inhibit illegal camping on Red Head Villages beaches and reserves for the 2017-18 summer season. Danjera Dam Camping Area Closure Update
At the Shoalhaven City Council Strategy and Assets Meeting, Mayor Amanda Findley made a Mayoral Minute to discuss further the decision to temporarily close the Danjera Dam area for overnight camping and redevelop the area for day use visitors.  The Danjera Dam camping area was to be temporarily closed to public access from 4 December 2017 for an estimated period of 4 to 6 months to allow rehabilitation of the site. Household Chemical CleanOut
Shoalhaven City Council is hosting the EPA Household Chemical CleanOut for residents to dispose of hazardous household chemicals.  The Household Chemical CleanOut will be held in the carpark of the Ulladulla and Nowra Council Administration buildings and is an opportunity to dispose of unwanted or out-of-date chemicals at no charge.  Mayor Amanda Findley said Household Chemical CleanOuts provide a great chance for residents to dispose of chemicals safely and free of charge. ...

Nowra Memorial Gate Repairs finished - Nowra Showground
Shoalhaven City Council has completed a number of repairs to the Nowra Memorial Gates at Nowra Showground. The works were undertaken and funded by a successful grant from the NSW Office for Veteran Affairs Community War Memorials Fund for $5000. Prior to works commencing, Council sought Heritage advise on the proposed repairs which included the removal of failing joint materials, clean off overspill from previous repairs and to refill and tuck point the joints. Food Safety Week
As part of Australian Food Safety Week on 11-18 November 2017, Shoalhaven City Council is urging local consumers to buy and use a food thermometer. A Food Safety Information Council survey has found that 75% of Australians surveyed reported that there wasn’t a food thermometer in their household and only 44% of those with a thermometer reported using is over the previous month. Road Works on Archgate Bridge
Shoalhaven City Council will be conducting roadworks on Culburra Road, Crookhaven River on what is referred to in the community as the Archgate Bridge or also known as the Crookhaven River Bridge in Pyree/Woollumboola.    Last month, Council dropped the speed limit over the bridge from 80 kph to 40 kph for safety. Council encourages residents to join the war on Shopping Trolleys
Shoalhaven City Council rangers collected 66 abandoned shopping trolleys in a two-day blitz and are encourages residents of Nowra to help with the crackdown. Residents can do their part in rounding up trolleys by reporting sightings on hotlines and websites developed by the major supermarkets.
