Nowra Library was recently recognised for their unique and innovative new literacy program ‘Paws ‘n’ Tales’. Shoalhaven City Council have endorsed the development of a Plan of Management for land on Coolangatta Mountain. Council will need to allocate funding towards the Plan of Management in the 2016/17 budget to ensure the project moves ahead. Coolangatta Mountain, also known as Cullunghutti, is a spiritually significant landmark for local Aboriginal communities and beyond. Shoalhaven City Council is calling on the local community to have their say as part of an organisational review into the functions of the Shoalhaven Sports Board. The Shoalhaven Sports Board is a Council committee established to provide a voice for the local sporting community. Shoalhaven City Council is advising local residents to the closure of the wooden footbridge located on Ben’s Walk, Nowra. The bridge has been deemed unsafe following an inspection by Council staff and a consultant engineer. Director of Assets and Works, Ben Stewart said the eroded bank adjacent to the bridge foundations needed repairs as a result of erosion to the piers. Shoalhaven City Council have awarded the tender for the$6.5 million Porters Creek Dam Remediation project to Leed Engineering and Construction. The project will see the preparation and placement of approximately 4,000 cubic metres of concrete along the downstream face of the dam along with associated outlet and access works. Shoalhaven City Council is advising local residents of a number of road closures due to the Waratah March re-enactment taking place on Sunday 29 November. The Waratah March is a Centenary of Anzac event that endeavours to re-enact and commemorate elements of the original recruitment march that travelled from Nowra to Sydney in 1915.
