Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Joanna Gash has welcomed the NSW State Government’s announced $50,000 grant to assist in investigating options to improve the river flow in the Shoalhaven Heads area. Council has previously allocated $50,000 towards the project in response to the gradual shoaling of the Shoalhaven estuary. Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Joanna Gash has today joined NSW Minister for the Environment, Rob Stokes and Member for South Coast, Shelley Hancock in officially opening the biobanking site at Garrads Reserve, Narawallee. Shoalhaven City Council is reminding pet owners to ensure that all dogs remain in a secure yard at all times and on a leash when being walked in a non-designated area outside of their property. The reminder comes as Council Animal Management Rangers step up patrols in known stray dog trouble spots including Narrawallee Inlet and the adjacent beach, Plantation Point, Vincentia and Huskisson. Shoalhaven City Council is reminding residents that whilst Council approval is not required for domestic vegetation burn off, permits still need to be attained from the NSW Fire and Rescue or Rural Fire Service in order to conduct a burn. The Shoalhaven local government area was listed along with 78 other council areas in State Government regulations that do not require Council permission to burn off vegetation. Shoalhaven City Council held a civic reception to pay tribute to the area’s many volunteer Rural Fire Service and SES members last Friday night. Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Joanna Gash has welcomed news that work will commence on the $13 million Masters development at South Nowra by the end of March 2015.
