Shoalhaven City Council is combining with the Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) in updating the extremely popular ‘Breastfeeding Shoalhaven’ resource card. In one of the largest projects of its type in Australia, ‘Breastfeeding Shoalhaven’ has seen over 180 local businesses and organisations register as Breastfeeding Friendly Venues and baby change facility locations within the Shoalhaven. Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Joanna Gash has welcomed the commencement of geotechnical investigations for a new bridge crossing of the Shoalhaven River. The investigations are being undertaken to further ascertain the ground conditions under the river bed, information which will then be used to inform the design of the bridge foundations. Mayor, Joanna Gash has welcomed confirmation that large parts of the Shoalhaven will be included in the next stage of the NBN rollout program. Under the new rollout timetable over 28,000 local homes and businesses will either have an active NBN connection or be in construction by July 2016. In addition work will have also commenced on the fixed wireless network in a further 3,200 homes across the area. Shoalhaven City Council has delayed completion of the new walkway jetty at the Currarong Boat Ramp until after Christmas following the inundation of the work area with sea water. The adjacent Currarong boat ramp remains open however the recent high tides and subsequent ocean surge have forced the delay of the construction of the walkway jetty.
