Shoalhaven City Council will engage an accredited contractor to remove a large amount of potentially contaminated building material buried adjacent to a walkway at Warrain Beach, Culburra.The building waste, which appears to have been illegally buried within the sand dunes at Warrain Beach, has become visible following a recent spell of dry weather and strong winds.Council Rangers have inspected the site and removed all pieces of loose asbestos from the adjacent area.The remaining building waste...

Shoalhaven City Council has erected signage within both Harry Sawkins and Marriott Parks, warning the public not to feed or handle the local wildlife, as a precautionary measure following a suspected outbreak of avian botulism within ducks inhabiting the ponds.Council had been investigating the death of ducks within both parks since early December when it was originally suspected that acts of animal cruelty had been to blame for an increased number of deceased animals found in both locations.How...

Shoalhaven Water is encouraging local residents and visitors to continue undertaking sensible water practices throughout the area as an extended period of dry weather continues across the City. In a major coup for the Shoalhaven, Mollymook has been announced as the host of the 2014 and 2015 Stramit NSW Country Surf Life Saving Championships. Taking place from 17-19 January 2014, the event will attract competitors from every non-metropolitan surf life saving branch in the state.
