Parma Road Bridge reopened to the public
March 26, 2013
Shoalhaven City Council has completed temporary repairs to the Parma Road Bridge, Falls Creek with one lane of traffic being reopened to the public.
Council closed eastern access to Parma Road, Falls Creek from the Princes Highway in late January following the discovery of structural damage to the Parma Creek Bridge.
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Joanna Gash said she was pleased to see the Parma Road Bridge reopen to traffic.
“Council has made the temporary repair of the Parma Road Bridge a priority in order to minimise disruptions to the local community,” said Clr Gash.
“The temporary repair allows a resumption of normal services to the Falls Creek School and rural properties in Parma and Vidler Roads.
“I’m also very pleased to see the works completed a week earlier than originally anticipated after Council committed to having the temporary repairs completed by Easter.”
“I would certainly like to congratulate Council staff on the way they have worked over the last period in order to minimise disruptions to the local community.”
“I would also like to again thank the Falls Creek School and local community for their understanding and patience throughout the repair period.”
Mayor Gash said the one lane bridge will remain in service until construction of the new two lane bridge with pedestrian access is completed later this year.
