Council beginning preparations for Lake Conjola opening
February 25, 2013
Shoalhaven City Council has begun preparations for a mechanical entrance intervention at Lake Conjola.
The preparations come after Lake Conjola received 75mm of rain over the weekend, bringing the Lake level to 0.89 metres.
With further rainfall forecast for the area this week and continued catchment run off into the Lake it is expected that water levels will reach the trigger level of 1 metre AHD to conduct an entrance intervention at the agreed central location (mid-spit).
Council has begun marking the site this morning with machinery expected to be on site tomorrow to start the excavation process.
Council asks residents not to enter the worksite during this period with the safety of both the community and machine operators obviously paramount.
Council is continuing to liaise with the community in order to define options in relation to future management of the entrance. Council has notified relevant State approval agencies of the works.
