A host of free activities on offer during Local Government Week
July 15, 2011
Shoalhaven City Council will be celebrating Local Government Week by opening the doors to many of the area’s facilities with a series of free educational tours and displays planned.
Kicking off with a debate at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre which will see Shoalhaven City Councillors take on students from Bomaderry High School, the week will see Council showcasing its broad range of services and facilities to the wider community.
A host of unique and exciting activities are planned for the week including –
• Waste and water tours.
• Guided tours of the Arts centre.
• Aquatic Centre tours.
• Open day at the Worrigee Lawn Cemetery and Crematorium.
• Eco tours of the City.
• Farmers Market.
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Paul Green said the week would provide residents with the rare opportunity to take a ‘behind the scenes tour’ of Council’s facilities.
“Local Government Week is a chance for residents to learn about the many facilities and services your local Council provides,” said Clr Green.
“This year Council is allowing participants to witness firsthand the important role Council plays in the community by participating in one of the many organised tours.
“I would encourage all local residents to get involved in Local Government Week and take the opportunity to learn more about the role of local Government in the Shoalhaven.”
Shoalhaven City Council will be hosting a stall at Stockland Nowra on Thursday 28 July from 10am – 2pm in the lead up to Local Government Week.
The stall will be showcasing some of the diverse range of services and facilities offered by Council and further promote the activities proposed. Interested residents are invited to attend.
