Council extends draft Delivery Program exhibition period
May 22, 2012
Shoalhaven City Council has extended the draft Delivery Program and Operational Plan 2012/13 exhibition period until 5pm Thursday 14 June.
The decision to extend comes after Council recently resolved to make a number of significant changes to the proposed 2012/13 Capital works program.
These changes include the allocation of $5 million towards the rehabilitation of the Nowra Pool and $9 million towards the Northern Shoalhaven Indoor Sporting Centre project.
Funding for these projects has been sourced via a transfer from a reserve set up to fund the construction of the North Nowra /Bomaderry Link Road ($10.4 million) and an increase in loan funding ($3.95 million).
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Paul Green said it was imperative that interested local residents make themselves aware of the changes to the 2012/13 Capital Works program.
“This recent change to the Capital Works program has the ability to provide the required funding to kick start two very important projects while also maintaining a firm commitment towards the commencement of the North Nowra Link Road,” said Clr Green.
“Council is still waiting for a number of approvals before work can commence on the North Nowra Link Road, approvals that could still be years away.
“Instead of leaving these funds idle, Council has proposed to use this funding source to kick start the rehabilitation of the Nowra Pool and the Northern Shoalhaven Indoor Sporting Centre project.”
“I would certainly encourage all local residents to view the changes and have their say on the 2012/13 Capital Works program and the best way for Council to balance the proposed budget.”
Mayor Green said Council would investigate loan options and utilise developer contribution funding once approvals were received for the North Nowra Link Road.
