Shoalhaven City Council is encouraging elderly residents to get out and active during the upcoming Seniors Week celebrations with a host of activities available throughout the city.
Beginning with the official launch at the Shoalhaven Heads Mens Shed on Monday 19 March at 10am, Seniors Week 2012 will provide residents with the opportunity to discover fresh interests while also meeting a range of new people.
Interested residents will be able to participate in a range of bushwalking tours, morning teas, markets and open days as part of a week long celebration.
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Paul Green said Senior’s Week provided residents with an opportunity to learn a new skill, try a new hobby or meet a host of new friends.
“With over 900 events planned across the state, Senior’s Week is the biggest celebration for seniors in the southern hemisphere,” said Clr Green.
“I would strongly encourage local residents to take advantage of the this jam packed program and get involved in one of the many workshops or tours taking place across the Shoalhaven,” said Clr Green.
“Residents will have the opportunity to attend easy to interpret seminars about modern technology, take part in a beautiful Dolphin Watch Cruise along Jervis Bay, participate in a free strength cardio session or attend one of many morning teas or open days taking place throughout the week.”
