Nominations called for annual Arts Board Awards

Shoalhaven City Council’s Arts Board is calling on the community to nominate individuals and organisations for their outstanding achievements and long service to the arts and heritage within the Shoalhaven.

Arts Development Manager Jill Farrar said the Shoalhaven City Council’s Arts Board will award three outstanding achievement awards and multiple volunteer recognition awards at an official Awards Ceremony to be held at the Nowra School of Arts on Saturday 19 May.

Nominations for long serving volunteers are currently being called for from Shoalhaven’s many historical societies, museums, galleries, theatre, music, dance and visual arts groups.

The Award categories include:

• Volunteers in the Arts and Cultural Heritage Sector.
• Young Achievement in the Arts. Open to people under 25 years of age as at 30 June 2012 and serves to encourage those young people to further develop their passion and development of the arts.
• Outstanding Contribution to the Arts by an Individual. Open to people over 25 years who have made an outstanding contribution to the arts in the Shoalhaven.
• Outstanding Contribution to the Arts by an Organisation. Open to an organisation which has made an outstanding contribution to the arts in the Shoalhaven.

Nominations for the Awards will close on Friday 30 March, 2012.
