Shoalhaven City Council is proud to announce their Charging Ahead with Renewables Project received a ‘Highly Commended’ award, at the Cities Power Partnership National Awards held in Sydney on the 29 August 2019.
The Awards are initiated by the Climate Council and recognise outstanding achievements by local government working to alleviate climate change. The Mayor is pleased Shoalhaven City has been recognised in these prestigious awards.
Shoalhaven City was nominated for the Renewable Energy Achievement Award alongside nine other Councils from around the nation, with an ACT Government project ultimately winning the category.
Receiving a Highly Commended mention from the Climate Council indicates that Shoalhaven City is taking the right steps towards a sustainable future under Council’s adopted Sustainable Energy Policy. Establishing an internal Revolving Energy Fund to finance future energy efficiency projects and accelerating renewable energy projects such as solar panel installations on Council assets have all been recently progressed.
Council will continue to strive towards reducing its energy costs and carbon emissions for a more sustainable future.
