Shoalhaven City Council is reminding residents and visitors that they are monitoring the water level in Lake Conjola following recent rain and in anticipation of an opening of the lake entrance prior to Christmas.
Shoalhaven City Council staff are meeting with Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) and National Parks and Wildlife Services (NPWS) today to discuss a planned opening of the Lake.
The Lake Entrance Level is not yet at the agreed trigger level of 1.0m as per the Entrance Management Policy but at 0.94m and given the anticipated forecast for more rainfall and the onset of the peak holiday season it is prudent to move early on preparing a pilot channel this week.
Any actions Council undertake to artificially open Lake Conjola outside the adopted conditions outlined in the Entrance Management Plan requires approvals from NSW State Government Agencies.
Council will continue to monitor the situation and update the community as this situation progresses.
