Shoalhaven City Council is calling on applications for this year’s Community Development Grants Program. Applications will be accepted until 5 pm on Friday, 29 July 2018.
“Council’s Community Development Grants Program enables community groups and organisations to deliver projects that directly benefit our community,” said Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Amanda Findley.
“Ulladulla and Districts Resources Centre, Shoalhaven Neighbourhood Services Inc. and the Central Shoalhaven Mobile Preschool are just some of the previous community groups that we have been able to support.”
Funding will be provided to projects that address the following objectives:
- Build inclusive, safe and connected communities
- Activate communities through arts culture and events
- Support active, healthy and livable communities
In 2017 the Shoalhaven Neighbourhood Services was successful in receiving a $2,000 Community Development Grant. Funds were used to auspice the community group ‘Happy Beats’ a music program that aims to address the emotional, cognitive and social needs of people in Residential Aged Care facilities throughout the Shoalhaven.
Mr Errol Roach from ‘Happy Beats’ said the responses from residents ranged from fun and laughter to movement and memories. At times, some were brought to tears remembering loved ones and times gone by.
