Have you thought about joining council and making a difference to the community? Nominations are now open for the Local Government Election which will be held on Saturday, 10 September 2016.
Council is seeking to elect 12 Councillors as well as the Election of a Mayor.

Candidates must nominate with the Return Officer for the council area they wish to contest by 12 noon on Wednesday, 10 August 2016. The Shoalhaven Returning Officer Office is located at Unit 1, 10 Pleasant Way, Nowra.
Candidates need to be nominated by two other electors or a registered political party. They also must ensure that their nominators are enrolled for the council area or ward in which they are standing.
Shoalhaven City Council General Manager, Russ Pigg said, “Councillors are the voice of the community. Candidates are community residents who can offer leadership, credibility, accountability and learning.”
“A councillor’s role as an elected representative is to provide an essential link between the community and council. Councillors serve their communities by listening to people in the local area and then representing those views on council. They make decisions that can change local communities and environments.”
“Serving the local community as an elected councillor is a challenging but rewarding role. A greater representation of candidates from all walks of life would not only strengthen council, but give a greater voice for all ratepayers of all ages.”
