Legends of Golf to Contest prestigious title at Mollymook Golf Club

The Legends of Australian golf will be on display at Mollymook Golf Club for the 2016 Australian PGA Seniors Championship.

The Australian PGA Seniors Championship will be played at Mollymook Golf Club in Shoalhaven from 24-26 November.

Having held the NSW PGA Seniors Championship for the past two years, Mollymook Golf Club will now host the most prestigious title on the E-Z-GO PGA Legends Tour.

“We are delighted to be the venue for the 2016 Australian PGA Seniors Championship,” said Barry West, Director of Golf at Mollymook Golf Club.

“The quality of player that competes in the tournament is outstanding and I know that our club members are excited to see them take on our course.”

Celebrating its 30th Anniversary the Australian PGA Seniors Championship has ingrained itself on the Australian golfing landscape.

“The Australian Seniors PGA Championship is amongst the most important titles that a PGA Professional can vie for,” said Brian Thorburn, CEO of the PGA of Australia.

“That is proven by the calibre of players that compete in the tournament. The honour roll reads like a who’s who of Australian and international golf with Rodger Davis (2015), Peter Fowler (2011), Terry Gale (2006) and famed American Lee Travino (1996) having won the tournament.”

The Australian PGA Seniors Championship’s move to Mollymook Golf Club has been supported by the Shoalhaven City Council.

“We are very honoured and excited to support and have the Australian Seniors PGA Championship in the Shoalhaven,” said Russ Pigg, General Manager, Shoalhaven City Council.

“Shoalhaven has some of the most amazing golf courses, overlooking bush or scenic coastlines, to charming old country clubhouses.  Our community has keen golfers and many of our tourists enjoy golfing weekends in the area.”

“We welcome the Australian Seniors PGA Championship which will not only showcase Shoalhaven, but provide a boost in tourism and the local economy. The event will feature the area and one of the best championship hilltop courses that our City has to offer.”

The Australian Seniors PGA Championship will be played at Mollymook Golf Club from 25-26 November for a AU$70,000 prize purse
