Shoalhaven City Council is advising local residents that the application process for the Community Development Grants Scheme in now open and will be conducted via a number of workshops held throughout the Shoalhaven.
Mayor Joanna Gash said community members would be able to apply for funding up to a maximum of $2,000 through the scheme.
“The Community Development Grants Scheme has been designed to help local organisations and associations build vibrant and activated local communities” said Clr Gash.
“Grants are given towards a small event or put towards a program that brings further value to the area’s towns and villages.”
“Council will run a number of workshops to assist communities develop and explore their project ideas in a group setting” said Clr Gash.
“The idea behind the workshops is to allow the community to present their ideas to the group for feedback and allow for attendees to network with others” said Clr Gash.
“By attending the workshops applicants may also find other opportunities that might support their project “said Clr Gash.
“Each workshop concludes with a popular vote on which projects will be progressed to the development and application stage.”
“Workshops are open to the entire community and will be used as a prerequisite for those wishing to make an application for the grants” said Clr Gash.
