Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Joanna Gash has today officially named the two new waterslides at the Nowra Aquatic Park.
Council held a competition to help in naming the slides with the two winning entrants winning free slides for a year.
Mayor, Gash said that after much deliberation and fanfare the winning names were determined as ‘The Vortex’ (closed slide) and ‘Rampage’ (open slide).
The two winning entrants were Jake O’ Neil (Rampage) and Maya Berardi (The Vortex).
“Since reopening in September, the Nowra Aquatic Park has proven extremely popular with the local community,” said Clr Gash.
“The excitement is only expected to intensify with the official opening of the new waterslides on 28 December.”
“The new modern and innovatively designed slides add another exciting and unique element to the recently completed Nowra Aquatic Park.”
“I would like to congratulate both Jake and Maya on winning the naming contest. Both residents came up with very fitting and catchy names for the new slides.”
“I’m sure they will enjoy their free years’ worth of slides they have received as a prize.”
Mayor, Gash said the completed $8 million project has seen the construction of a new nine lane pool, installation of a recreational splash pad, new filtration equipment and pool heating.
The redevelopment project has also resulted in the renovation of the existing amenities building and new meeting room.
