Council calling for community to have their say on Shoalhaven Sports Board review

Shoalhaven City Council is calling on the local community to have their say as part of an organisational review into the functions of the Shoalhaven Sports Board.

The Shoalhaven Sports Board is a Council committee established to provide a voice for the local sporting community.

Council will be hosting a number of drop in sessions as well as an online survey to allow local residents to make comment as part of the review.

Drop in sessions will be held -

  • Monday 7 December - Ulladulla Civic Centre (5.30pm - 7pm)
  • Tuesday 8 December – Erowal Bay community Hall (5.30pm - 7pm)
  • Wednesday 9 December - Nowra Administrative Centre (5.30pm - 7pm)

Mayor, Joanna Gash said Council had undertaken a benchmarking comparison, consulted with NSW Sports and Recreation and reviewed the board against other community consultation models as part of the review.

The Mayor said Council was now calling on the community to have their say by either attending a drop in session or filling in the online survey.

“The Shoalhaven Sports Board plays a key role in facilitating communication between Council and the sporting public,” said Clr Gash.

“Further to this, the board is the peak body in the strategic development of sporting facilities, formulation of ground usage Policies and establishment of local amenity priorities.

“The Board also provides recommendations to Council on strategic and financial matters relating to sport in the Shoalhaven.”

“Council is currently calling on the local community to have their say as part of an overarching review into the Sports Board.”

“As part of the review, Council is hosting a series of drop in sessions to allow local residents to make comment and ask questions of staff.”

“Council is also encouraging the community to have their say via an online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/shoalsport.”

Participants in the online survey are eligible to win a number of prizes including -

  1. Holiday Haven Tourist Park accommodation voucher valued at $200
  2. Multi visit swim past to Shoalhaven Swim and Fitness pools
  3. Tim Cahilll autobiography (Legacy)
