Shoalhaven City Council is inviting the local community to join Councillors and senior staff in ‘sizzling the issues’ at Memorial Park, Shoalhaven Heads from 1pm this Friday.
Council will be providing local residents with a barbecue lunch and the opportunity to discuss any concerns and issues with the elected officials and staff in a relaxed and informal environment.
The engagement opportunity will be the first in an ongoing series of public barbecues designed to coincide with the Councillor’s Familiarity Tours.
“This Friday’s barbecue at Memorial Park, Shoalhaven Heads represents an ideal opportunity for local residents to raise any concerns or issues they may have,” said Clr Gash.
“The whole idea is to generate a relaxed and informal discussion regarding the direction of the City or individual issues affecting a community while enjoying a barbecue lunch.
“With so much happening across the community this also represents another valuable opportunity for Councillors to receive valuable feedback and ideas from engaged local residents.”
“I would certainly encourage local residents to come down and discuss the major issues affecting the community over a sausage or two.”
The Mayor said the barbecue would be held as part of the latest Familiarity Tour which will see Councillors visiting residents within Bomaderry, North Nowra, Cambewarra, Kangaroo Valley and Berry.
Mayor, Gash said the Familiarity Tours provided Councillors with an invaluable opportunity to inspect key sites and further discuss any potential issues with Council staff and local residents.
“The ongoing Familiarity Tours have allowed Councillors to gain a greater knowledge and insight into many proposed developments and potential issues right across the City,” said Clr Gash.
“Familiarity Tours have proven an extremely beneficial way of ensuring all parties are across the key issues which leads to better decisions and resolution of the matters raised.”
