Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Joanna Gash has congratulated both the Member for South Coast, Shelley Hancock and Member for Kiama, Gareth Ward on their appointments within the newly formed State Government.
NSW Premier, Mike Baird today announced that Mrs Hancock has been reappointed as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.
Mr Ward has been promoted to Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier for the Illawarra and South Coast.
The previous Minister for Illawarra position has been abolished under the new Cabinet.
Mayor, Gash welcomed both appointments saying she looked forward to continuing to work with both returning Members in bringing about results for the local community.
“I would like to congratulate both the Member for South Coast, Shelley Hancock and Member for Kiama, Gareth Ward on their extremely significant appointments,” said Clr Gash.
“Shelley Hancock has already proven herself to be an excellent Speaker throughout the course of the previous government and I am extremely pleased to see her returned unanimously to this very prestigious position.
“It is also very pleasing to see the promotion of Gareth Ward to the position of Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier.”
“Gareth is obviously an extremely hard working MP and I am sure he will thrive under the additional responsibilities this new position will offer.”
