Junction Court to reopen to traffic from this Saturday
June 25, 2014
Shoalhaven City Council will be opening Junction Court to eastbound traffic from this weekend.
Council will mark the occasion with an official opening commencing from 10.30am this Saturday 28 June.
The opening of Junction Court to traffic represents the end of the two stage project which has seen the demolition of the existing site structures and enhanced streetscape erected within the redeveloped Court.
More recently, Council has removed the footpath and constructed the road at the eastern end of Junction Court while also installing an asphalt overlay at the intersection of O’Connell Lane and Junction Court.
Director of Assets and Works, Ben Stewart said it was important that motorists and pedestrians remain mindful of the changed traffic conditions in and around Junction Court.
Important information for pedestrian and motorists using this area includes –
• A 40 kilometre speed an hour limit will operate from Berry Street to Nowra Lane in Junction Court and from Schofields Lane to Egans Lane in Kinghorne Street.
• Pedestrians will be required to give way to vehicles travelling eastbound in Junction Court.
• An additional set of pedestrian push buttons have been installed in Junction Court to allow pedestrians to safely cross the road.
• Motorists entering Junction Street from O’Connell Lane are reminded that a normal T junction rule applies in this area. Motorists travelling on O’Connell Lane are required to stop for pedestrians on the footpath and give way to traffic prior to proceeding through the intersection.
