Council offering free green waste disposal after recent high winds

Shoalhaven City Council is offering residents the opportunity to dispose of green waste brought down by the recent high winds free of charge at all of the area’s waste disposal depots.

Residents will be able to dispose of green waste free of charge until close of business Sunday 6 July.

Mayor, Joanna Gash said the free tipping offer would only apply to green waste created as a result of the recent high winds experienced throughout the area.

“Many local residents would be faced with additional garden debris after the strong winds that have been buffeting the area over the past day,” said Clr Gash.

“Council is assisting local residents by allowing the free disposal of wind related garden waste until Sunday afternoon.

“This will allow any affected residents to dispose of any garden debris, broken branches and unwanted scattered leaves brought about as a result of the winds.”

“It is important to note that Council’s free offer will only apply to green waste that has been created as a result of the recent high winds.”

The Mayor also suggested local residents confirm the opening hours of the individual waste facilities before making the trip.
