January 29, 2014
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor, Joanna Gash has today welcomed news that the area will form part of the next official rollout of the National Broadband Network.
NBN Co is set to lodge development applications with Council in the coming months that will result in parts of the Shoalhaven having access to its fixed wireless network by mid-2015.
Mayor, Gash said the continual roll out of the NBN would provide the local community with increased business and social benefits.
“It is certainly very pleasing to see the Shoalhaven included in the next stage of NBN roll outs,” said Clr Gash.
“I would like to congratulate the Federal Member for Gilmore, Anne Sudmalis on her lobbying to ensure the Shoalhaven was included in the upcoming program.
“Once completed, the NBN will open up endless opportunities for local businesses as well as ensuring the area has access to state of the art medical and education services.”
Mayor, Gash said representatives of NBN Co would be working with Council staff in identifying appropriate locations for fixed wireless network infrastructure throughout the area.
