Shoalhaven City Council recently held an on-site community meeting to discuss design consultation of the recently announced BMX track to be located at Curleys Bay Reserve, Culburra Beach.
Once completed, the track will provide local residents with a dirt circuit consisting of a series of jumps, berms and raised corners suitable for BMX riding.
Over 30 community members attended the meeting with representatives from the local Community Consultation Bodies, Bushcare and Culburra Beach Out of School Care Hours joining local parents and children in attendance.
Recreation, Community and Culture Manager, Jane Lewis said she was pleased to see the local community so enthusiastic about the project.
“Council has worked closely with the Culburra Beach Community Consultative Body in developing the BMX track at Curleys Bay Reserve,” said Mrs Lewis.
“The recent community meeting allowed Council staff the opportunity to further consult with local residents as to the design of the track.
“Council staff received a number of fantastic suggestions from local residents with some of the children in particular, providing Council with some really exciting ideas.”
Mrs Lewis said Council planned to commence work on the track in February 2014 with the project set for completion by Easter.
The BMX track will be the subject of a 12 month trial period.
