Shoalhaven City Libraries are offering patrons the opportunity to learn a second language through the new and easy to use Mango Languages online learning system.
Free for all Library users, Mango languages uses audio from native speakers with simple, clear instructions to help participants break down actual foreign language conversations.
Manager of Shoalhaven Libraries, Noela Lim said the courses accelerate language learning among participants as they are presented with an appreciation for cultural nuance and real-world application that integrates components of vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and culture.
“We are very excited to be offering the Mango Languages online system throughout the Shoalhaven libraries,” said Ms Lim.
“Learning a second language has become an extremely popular pastime, with many residents needing to do so for travel or business purposes and others for leisure.
“Whatever the reason, Mango language learning makes learning a second language extremely accessible, easy and most of all, fun.”
“Users of the program will learn actual conversation, breaking down complex conversational elements within an audio-visual framework that will allow the user to draw connections between information they have already learned.”
Mango Languages online is currently available in both a 100 lesson course offering a deep understanding of foreign languages and an introductory model offering participants the chance to learn basic greetings and helpful phrases.
Residents interested in learning a second language are encouraged to drop in to a branch of Shoalhaven Libraries to find out more information.
Alternatively, Shoalhaven Libraries members are able to access the actual courses remotely by visiting the Library website at http://shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au/MyCommunity/Library.aspx
