Shoalhaven City Council welcomes new Arts Development Manager

Shoalhaven City Council has recently employed the services of Arts Development Manager, Jill Farrar.
Having previously studied Fine Arts at the University of Sydney and having attained a PHD in Communication Arts, Dr Farrar is looking forward to help growing the Arts and Cultural sector within the Shoalhaven region.
“The Shoalhaven is a vibrant, diverse community situated in a beautiful physical environment, which is also rich in visual and performing arts,” said Dr Farrar.
“Helping the arts to flourish is good for everyone: it’s a creative outlet, it provides employment and business opportunities and it can be a great tourism drawcard.
“I’m extremely passionate about encouraging local artists, local businesses and the community to develop a sense of what is unique to the culture of this area.”
Previously employed as the Development Manager at Bundanon Trust, Dr Farrar also worked as the Media and Marketing Manager for the elite music organisation, the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
Dr Farrar also has an extensive journalism career, having written extensively on the arts for a variety of publications including Vogue, Elle, Cleo and Good Weekend.
Having lived in the Shoalhaven for a number of years Dr Farrar has been a member of Shoalhaven City’s Art Board and was also a member of the Arts Board Strategy Subcommittee which produced Shoalhaven City Council Arts and Cultural Heritage Strategy 2010-2014: smARTspaces.
