Council reminding residents to book for Local Government tours

Shoalhaven City Council is reminding local residents to book for upcoming Local Government Week tours with the celebrations set to begin from Tuesday 30 July.

Local Government Week provides local residents with the opportunity to take a rare insider’s view around many of Council internal operations.

A host of unique and exciting activities are planned for the week including –

• Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Tour
• Guided tours of the Arts centre.
• Aquatic Centre tours.
• Waste Services Magical Mystery Tour.
• Eco tours of the City.
• Homesafe Crime Prevention Event.
• Seniors Computer Training at the Nowra Library.
• Tours of the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre.

The final event on the week long calendar will see Shoalhaven Councillors taking on local high school students in the traditional debate at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre.

Mayor, Joanna Gash said it was important that residents interested in attending one of the upcoming tours made sure they booked with spots running out fast.

“Council staff are looking forward to opening the doors and taking local residents on a tour through some of the organisations operations and facilities,” said Clr Gash.

“Local Government Week provides residents with the perfect opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the role Council plays within the community.

“I would certainly encourage local residents to attend one of the upcoming activities and learn more about the role of Local Government within the Shoalhaven.”
