Irene Wilkie to launch second book of poems at Nowra Library

Shoalhaven City Libraries will be launching local poet, Irene Wilkie’s second book of poems, Extravagance at the Nowra Library from 11am on Saturday 3 August.

A well published writer, poems from Mrs Wilkie’s latest anthology have already appeared in a number of publications and journals including Blue Dog, Poetrix, Five Bells, Going Down Swinging, Winning Australian Writing 2011 and Divan.

Mayor, Joanna Gash encouraged local residents with an interest in poetry to attend the upcoming book launch.

“It is very exciting to see the Nowra Library hosting the well known local poet, Irene Wilkie as she launches her second publication,” said Clr Gash.

“Having had her works published in a number of prominent journals, Mrs Wilkie is also a member of the local poetry group - the Kitchen Table Poets, the Fellowship of Australian Writers and the Writing Hoods.

“Fellow members from these groups will join Mrs Wilkie in reading poems from her recent publication, Extravagance, at the upcoming launch.”

Mrs Wilkies first publication was titled, Love and Galactic Spiders.
