Shoalhaven City Council has placed traffic restrictions on a section of Burrier Road with access available to local residents using light vehicles only.
The heavy rains experienced throughout the area earlier this week caused a landslip on a short section of Burrier Road one kilometre west of the Yalwal Road intersection.
A geo technical report undertaken today has shown that the landslip requires the restriction of heavy vehicles.
Director of City Services and Operations, Bill Paterson said Council was working with an adjoining land owner to create a temporary detour around the affected road.
“It is anticipated that the detour will be in place by next week dependent on the availability of suitable materials and weather conditions,” said Mr Paterson.
“Full vehicular access will be returned upon the completion of the detour.
“Due to the recent landslip Council encourages motorists to avoid this section of Burrier Road.”
Mr Paterson said Council has installed traffic lights to ensure local residents are able to utilise this single lane stretch of road safely.
Local bus companies and businesses in this area have been advised of the road closure.
Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by these works.
