Council to provide reimbursement for flood damaged goods tipping costs
June 28, 2013
Shoalhaven City Council will provide reimbursement of tipping disposal costs for local residents with flood damaged goods as a result of the recent heavy rains.
Mayor, Joanna Gash said that residents claiming reimbursement will be required to pay for the disposal of goods at a Council Waste Depot before taking the receipt to Council for refund.
“It goes without saying that many local residents will have endured some sort of flood or rain related damage over the past week,” said Clr Gash.
“Council is looking to assist local residents in undertaking the clean up from the recent wet weather by offering to reimburse tipping fees for disposal of flood damaged goods.
“The offer is available to local residents who do not have insurance cover for disposal of flood or rain damaged items.”
Residents disposing of flood damaged goods at Council’s Waste Depots and who are not able to recover the disposal costs through insurance can collect a statutory declaration form from the depot at the time of tipping.
Mayor Gash said local residents claiming reimbursement were requested to attach photographs of the flooded area or flood damaged goods to assist in the determination of valid claims for reimbursement.
Further forms are available from Council’s Nowra and Ulladulla Administration Centres or from Council’s website www.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au.
The offer to reimburse tipping fees for the disposal of flood damaged goods will only be available until Sunday 14 July.
