Shoalhaven Family Day is an approved home based education and care service which has been actively supporting local families for over 35 years. Our educators are qualified professionals committed to providing high quality education and care for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years in a home environment. Family Day Care is a wonderful child care option for all families, with the emphasis on providing a warm, safe and secure environment where children grow and learn. Experiences offered to children are play based and offer them opportunities to expand their thinking.
Shoalhaven Family Day Care encourages positive relationships between families, educators and the coordination unit. We place value on diversity, team work, mutual respect, understanding and professionalism. Our service fully supports the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of the Child and Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics.
Education and care services are assessed and rated against the National Quality Standards. Shoalhaven Family Day Care is extremely proud of its current rating of 'Exceeding' the National Quality Standard ( October 2015).

The Coordination Unit
The Coordination Unit is dedicated to working with families and educators toward quality outcomes for all. The coordination unit staff are fully qualified professionals with many years experience caring for children and working within a variety of early childhood settings.
The coordination unit recuits educators and provides ongoing training and resources to support the care and education of children. Staff regularly undertake announced and unannounced home visits to educators to support and monitor the quality of care. Training and support is provided to educators to meet the high standards required. A weekly play session is run by the play session coordinator during school terms. The service also has an extensive toy and resource library which is available to educators for loan to use in their service to enhance and support programming and planning.
Shoalhaven Family Day Care is a licensed service offering Child Care Benefit and the Child Care Rebate to eligible families. Educators set their own fees, fees are charged based on an hourly rate and minimum hours may apply.
Childcare and Education
Educators are registered to care for up to seven children, with no more than four being under school aged. Days and times can be flexible and are negotiated with individual educators. Wherever possible a choice of educator may be offered to you. Enrolment registrations are by appointment and a registration fee applies to all families.The service is sponsored by Shoalhaven City Council and receives funding from the Australian Government to support the operation of the service.
Educators come from a variety of backgrounds and participate in a rigorous recruitment process prior to registration. They provide a unique education and care environment where individual children’s needs are met. Educators work in partnership with families to provide quality care and outcomes for all.
