The Asset Management Plan (AMP) for Public Amenities identifies growth in Berry requiring additional toilets.
Currently the Alexandra Street public amenities have 2 unisex disabled toilets and Apex Park has 1 unisex disabled, 2 male and 2 female toilet facilities.
Council's Delivery Program and Operational Budget, identifies a budget of $300,000 for 2018/19.
Extensive Community Engagement has been undertaken since 2013 with the resident group for Berry (Berry Forum), the former resident group for Berry and the Berry Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Inc. Many sites have been investigated.
Berry Forum held a vote on four site options and over 60% preference was to refurbish the public amenities at Berry - Apex Park. After detailed investigation the most cost effective option has been determined to provide new facilities, that face onto street level, are non-shared use – unisex facilities, that have Safer by design principles.
The current preferred option has been determined to replace the existing Apex Park public amenities with more user friendly by constructing single use unisex facilities that face on to Prince Alfred Street and are accessible from Apex Park. Works are proposed to occur in 2019
