Community centres, public halls & meeting rooms

Council’s Community Halls are subject to NSW government Public Health Orders. This includes buildings at showgrounds, community sporting facility building, public halls, community centres and School of Arts. For the safety of our Volunteers, patrons and staff, the following restrictions are in place:

  • At all times - 4 square metres per person, for each person on the premises (including staff etc), excepting:
    1. no restrictions - to provide a service to assist vulnerable members of the public, including, for example, a food bank or a service providing for the needs of homeless persons.
    2. no restrictions - as an early education and care facility.
  • Indoor – if 4 square metre rule is satisfied (including all persons)
    • 50 person max - Funeral/memorial/wake (excluding staff/celebrant/funeral directors)
    • 20 person max – all other usage (excluding persons conducting event, persons being married, photographer at a wedding, or parents/guardians/carers of participants)
  • Outdoor – if 4 square metre rule is satisfied (including all persons)
    • 500 persons max (including all persons)
  • Booking Officers must keep records of contact details for all persons who use the facility, for 4 weeks.  Event coordinators are required to provide to the Booking Officer.
  • Community Centres and Halls have a COVID-19 Safety Plan kept at the premises.

Many of the Shoalhaven’s community centres, public halls and meeting rooms are managed by volunteers (management committees), some are leased or managed by Council and some are privately owned (and managed by the community members).
