Seeking your opinion... Shoalhaven City Council expects to spend over $1.7 million this year on street lighting. This equates to 3150 tonnes of carbon emissions.
The Switched On initiative provides new technology which will allow Council to reduce the cost of street lighting by $440,000, also reducing carbon emissions by 1400 tonnes. With the support of Commonwealth Government funding, the installation cost of these more efficient lights would be recouped in four years, and the estimated savings would then continue for the expected 20 year life of the new lights.
