Flood Risk in the Shoalhaven

Council is committed to sound floodplain management in accordance with the process outlined in the NSW Government’s 2005 Floodplain Development Manual. To achieve this goal, Natural Resources and Floodplain Management Committees as well as a technical Flood Steering Group meet on a regular basis in order to assist Council in the development and implementation of Floodplain Risk Management Plans for catchments within the City’s boundaries.

For more information on the NSW Government floodplain legislation and program visit the Office of Environment and Heritage website (new window).

Council is a full member of the Floodplain Management Australia (FMA). The FMA is an organisation made up of councils, catchment management authorities, businesses, and professionals from around Australia involved in all aspects of urban and rural floodplain risk management.
