Shoalhaven River, Nowra
NOWRA
Nowra is the main centre for shopping and business in Shoalhaven City. With a population of 23,000 it has all the major stores and a host of speciality shops. There is ample parking, pleasant streetscapes and delightful parks for picnics or just to "munch on a sandwich" for lunch.

Special attractions of Nowra are the Animal Park, Meroogal - an historic home looked after by the Historic Houses Trust of NSW and of course Australia's Museum of Flight at H.M.A.S. Albatross. This has one of the finest collections of military aircraft in Australia.

The Nowra urban area is made up of Nowra, Bomaderry, North Nowra, Nowra East, South Nowra, Worrigee and Terara.

BOMADERRY
Bomaderry, the terminus of the NSW South Coast rail line, has a compact shopping centre and is an important industrial centre.

MG Magnet - Hampden Bridge
Car Rally, Hampden Bridge
KANGAROO VALLEY
Kangaroo Valley boasts some of the most spectacular scenery on the South Coast. Historic Hampden Bridge, constructed in sandstone in 1898, is the oldest suspension bridge in Australia.

BERRY
Berry is a small country town with charm and grace. Famous as "the town of trees" it is now very popular for weekend visitors looking for antiques or just "a taste of the country".

Seven Mile Beach
Morning surf, Seven Mile Beach, Shoalhaven Heads
SHOALHAVEN HEADS
Surfing, swimming, fishing, bush walks in the Seven Mile Beach National Park or a jog along the beach are all part of the attraction of Shoalhaven Heads. Located just to the north of the mouth of the Shoalhaven River, it enjoys seven miles of sandy beach, a surf area and the quieter waters of the river.

COOLANGATTA
Coolangatta (the "original" one) is the site of the first settlement on the South Coast. The buildings of the old village have been restored and now form a unique resort. The old school house is now a craft centre.

GREENWELL POINT
A delightful fishing village that makes an ideal base for amateur fishing. Hire a boat or just fish from the end of the wharf - a catch is almost guaranteed. Don't forget to get your feed of succulent Greenwell Point oysters.

CULBURRA
Culburra is a very popular tourist resort. The surf beach is regarded as Nowra's surf beach while sailboarding on Lake Wollumboola is a year round activity.

CURRARONG
Another popular resort village, Currarong boasts the delightful, and delightfully named, Abrahams Bosom Beach. Swimming, surfing, fishing, scuba diving and bush walks to the wreck of the S.S. Merimbula are just some of the attractions.

The Cleanest Water - The Whitest Sand

HUSKISSON
Huskisson is a busy coastal village that has its history in the boat building and fishing industries. Being 2½ hours south of Sydney it is now the centre for people visiting Jervis Bay and has year round popularity. Activities are boat cruises, sailing, swimming, scuba diving, fishing, exploring the coast, bush and beach walks or just lazing about in the sun.

JERVIS BAY
Jervis Bay has the cleanest, clearest water of anywhere in Australia and is ideal for all sorts of boating activities. Within Jervis Bay are four pods (families) of dolphins which always come to greet the cruise boat and often play around the yachts and catamarans when they are out sailing. "The Bay" has beach after beach strung around it like a string of pearls.

AROUND JERVIS BAY
As well as Huskisson the other towns nestled around the shores of Jervis Bay are Callala Bay, Callala Beach, Myola, Vincentia and Hyams Beach.

BOODEREE NATIONAL PARK
Booderee National Park and Botanic Garden (fees apply) is jointly managed by the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community and Environment Australia. It is situated in Jervis Bay Territory which, although administered by Canberra, is a Territory in its own right. The park’s most famous beach is "Greenpatch" however, "Bristol Point", "Hole in the Wall", "Scottish Rocks" and "Murrays" are all just as spectacular with dazzling white sand and crystal clear water. Other attractions include the ruined lighthouse, many walking trails and H.M.A.S. Creswell (weekends only). Remember that wildlife in national parks is protected and feeding them is not permitted.

ST. GEORGES BASIN AND SANCTUARY POINT
As the water rat remarked in The Wind in the Willows,"....there is nothing, absolutely nothing, half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats". Well the waters of St. Georges Basin are ideal for just that. Swimming, sailing, waterskiing, snorkelling or just plain fishing are all time honoured pastimes on St. Georges Basin. In addition the beaches slope gently into the water and are ideal for families with small children.

The township of St. Georges Basin has a modern shopping centre and the Country Club caters for bowling, golfing, tennis and squash.

SUSSEX INLET
Sussex Inlet is famous for its annual fishing carnival in July. If it is true that "the time spent fishing is added to the end of your life", then people who holiday in Sussex Inlet should live long, healthy lives. The waterway teems with fish and as an added bonus leads to St. Georges Basin at one end and good fishing grounds in the open sea at the other end. Boat hire is readily available.

The surf at Cudmirrah beach is very popular and there is ample accommodation in Motels and Caravan Parks.

BENDALONG, MANYANA AND LAKE CONJOLA
Bendalong and Lake Conjola offer boating, fishing, sailing, waterskiing and swimming. Accommodation is plentiful in caravan parks and cabins. There are bream, flathead, whiting, tailor and blackfish just waiting to be caught in the lake whilst there is also good beach fishing. Bait is available in the village shops and boats may be hired at Lake Conjola.

The surf near Green Island (access from Manyana/ Cunjurong Point) provides excellent board riding for enthusiasts and there are plenty of spots for spear fishing and scuba diving.

Ulladulla and District

ULLADULLA
The safe harbour at Ulladulla is the focal point of this delightful town. Add to that its vibrant shopping centre and the Blessing of the Fleet ceremony every Easter Sunday and you have one of the most popular spots on the east coast of Australia.
