Quietly

In an area as large as the Shoalhaven, there are a multitude of places where you can revive the spirit quietly.

Our foreshore reserves provide people with the opportunity to enjoy a feeling of remoteness, just minutes from developed urban areas.

Lady Denman Heritage Complex Wetland Walk, Huskisson
On Dent Street in Huskisson you will find the Lady Denman Heritage Complex and Maritime Museum. Along with all the maritime treasures you will find in the museum, there is also the gentle Wetland Walk.

Take half an hour to experience the sites and sounds presented to you as you stroll down the elevated boardwalk towards Currambene Creek. This wheelchair accessible walk meanders through native mangroves (the essential breeding ground for the fish and shellfish of Jervis Bay) to an open viewing platform. Interpretive signage along the way provides information about the flora and fauna of the creek and its surrounds.

Hyams Beach
The village of Hyams Beach is nestled in an area of spectacular natural beauty. Jervis Bay National Park is just a few kilometres away, and there is very little development in the surrounding areas. This is a perfect place to contemplate the wonders of nature, in a truly idyllic setting.

Legend has it that Hyams Beach has the whitest sands in the world - why not take a visit and see for yourself. The coast between Huskisson and Hyams Beach is dotted with picture postcard beaches and rocky seashelves. A little exploration will uncover great natural beauty in pristine settings.

Moona Moona Reserve, Huskisson
On the northern bank of the tranquil Moona Moona Creek, Huskisson, is Moona Moona Reserve. The reserve is accessed via Jervis Street and a short road leads from the street to the car park.

Enjoy the wonderful views of Point Perpendicular and Jervis Bay National Park from one of the many picnic areas, or wander down to the beach for a quiet dip in the brilliantly coloured water of Jervis Bay.

For the convenience of visitors, toilets, outdoor showers, BBQ's and a shelter shed are provided. A wheelchair and pram accessible path follows the foreshore for a short distance to ensure everyone has the opportunity to visit this spectacular location.

Plantation Point, Vincentia
The magical Plantation Point at Vincentia is yet another of Jervis Bay's beautiful foreshore reserves. Revegetation work along the dunes is under way to protect the natural values of the area and to improve the amenity of the picnic areas. Access to the beautiful beaches on either side of this reserve is conveniently simple via constructed walkways.

Spend the day here having a picnic or BBQ. There is ample open space for children to play, or to find a quiet corner. Outdoor showers, toilets and BBQs are provided for the comfort of visitors. Vincentia Sailing Club is based at the reserve, and access to a sand ramp has been created to allow for boats to be launched into the Bay.

To get to Plantation Point, take Plantation Point Parade, off Elizabeth Drive, the main road between Huskisson and Vincentia. Car parking is provided within the reserve.

Lake Conjola Foreshore Reserves
Lake Conjola is one of the Shoalhaven's most popular recreation areas. However, its many foreshore reserves still offer visitors the opportunity to revive the spirit quietly. The foreshore reserves are located strategically around the lake from Cunjurong in the north, Fisherman's Paradise to the west and the village of Lake Conjola to the south. From these reserves, gentle walks meander through native bushland and re-connect with developed parks where you can picnic or enjoy the scenery from one of many vantage points.

Burrill Lake Foreshore Reserves
There are a number of unique reserves waiting to be discovered along the foreshores of Burrill Lake. A large area of parkland has been developed adjacent to the Princes Highway, which provides a scenic rest stop for long distance travellers. From here access is available to Burrill Beach or to the lake itself. Picnic facilities and amenities are provided on site.

As you progress further around the foreshore reserves of Burrill Lake, the separation from the everyday becomes more real. These are perfect surroundings to revive the spirit, quietly.
