Skateboard Park, Ulladulla Marriott Park, Nowra Harry Sawkins Park, Nowra Greenwell Point White Sands Park, Huskisson Rotary Park, Ulladulla
West Ulladulla Sporting Complex, located on Camden Street is the site of the
Shoalhaven's first regional skate facility. Constructed in 1997, the facility
has already become a part of the national skateboarding circuit and is used
regularly by the youth of the area. The park offers opportunities for skaters of
all levels and incorporates a range of state of the art challenges.
Users of this facility should be suitably experienced and are advised to wear protective equipment, particularly helmets, knee and elbow pads.
Car parking and basic amenities are available on site.
Marriott
Park, Nowra
Marriott Park is one of Nowra's showpieces. Strategically located adjacent to
the Nowra CBD and on the Princes Highway, this park is used by locals and
tourists and provides opportunities for many forms of play. Plenty of seating
and shade is provided to make the supervision of children as comfortable as
possible.
Getting playful in Marriott Park is easy. The most obvious opportunity is the high quality playground, which offers children aged between 2 and 14 the chance to have fun and challenge their skills on equipment ranging from spring animals to a complex senior play unit. However, there are also plenty of large grassy areas for other activities such as ball games and free play. There is also a stylish old gazebo from which visitors can look over the central waterway. Feeding the parks' many ducks and geese is also a popular pastime.
Harry
Sawkins Park, Nowra
Adjacent to the Nowra Civic Centre, Harry Sawkins Park was named after a former
Shoalhaven Mayor. Known for its abundance of ducks and geese which live on the
central island in the lake (and are always waiting to be fed!), the park is
popular with young and old for its many recreational opportunities.
A large playground network is centrally located within the park providing structured play opportunities for children in the 4 to 14 age group. Some equipment is also provided for younger children with parental supervision. The play equipment is complemented by grassy open spaces which can be used for unstructured play.
Greenwell
Point
At the waters edge at Greenwell Point is a colourful new playground designed
around a marine theme. The playground was installed in 1998 and is popular with
residents and tourists.
The playground
here is just one aspect of a centralised community recreation area. Right next
to the playground you will find the Greenwell Point pool, boat ramp and fishing
wharf. The parkland is a popular spot for picnickers enjoying the beautiful
views, the company of the local pelicans and the famous Greenwell Point fish and
chips.
White
Sands Park, Huskisson
Stage One of the redevelopment of White Sands Park, Huskisson has only recently
been completed. This park is now one of the foremost recreation venues in the
Shoalhaven, and one of the most popular reserves in the Bay and Basin area.
Modern play equipment for 2 to 14 year olds has been provided on the reserve at
Hawke Street near to the toilets and car parking facilities.
Wander down the hill into Voyager Park for a swim in one of the most idyllically located public pools you will ever see, or take a stroll around the public wharf to enjoy the sites of Jervis Bay. On any day of the week you are likely to catch sight of dolphins at play, but for a closer look, investigate one of the many tours which depart from the wharf.
Rotary
Park, Ulladulla
Rotary Park in Ulladulla is the most developed park in the southern Shoalhaven.
Located on the northern side of Ulladulla Harbour, off Crescent Street, the
reserve affords spectacular views across the harbour and to the mountains in the
west. Stretch your legs by taking a short stroll from the car park along the
harbour's northern break wall, before getting playful in the reserve.
Modern play equipment has been installed, which incorporates a variety of structures suitable for children in the 4 to 14 age group. Younger children will require direct supervision when using the playground. Open areas are also provided for free play.
For the comfort of visitors, the reserve incorporates a car park, BBQ's, picnic tables, and toilets. Council also maintains a boat ramp, from which access to the harbour can be gained.
