Litter BillboardAs part of Shoalhaven City Council's Litter prevention communication campaign, Council last year invited Shoalhaven schools to participate in a Billboard School Artwork Competition.

Participation in the competition was aimed at helping to promote local anti-litter initiatives and supporting the local public education campaign to raise litter issues, for a roadside billboard sign.

Artwork was to incorporate and expand themes including:

  • Littering from cars

  • Effects of litter on the environment

  • Litter fines are enforced in the Shoalhaven

The winning artist, a Sussex Inlet Primary School student, won $1000 for her school with her eye-catching, yet simple image of a bird depicting the anti-litter message.

The artwork has been transferred onto two billboards that have been placed at either end of the Shoalhaven City limits on the Princes Highway.

The bright and colourful signs fulfil the competitions criteria of creating a visual impact that can be interpreted from vehicles travelling at 100 kilometres/hour.

Our friendly staff will be happy to discuss any waste management concerns.
