Piles of Cut Privet

Return to:

John from Berry has embraced the aims of the Privet Strategy and removed a significant stand of Large Leaved Privet from his front yard. A unique approach was adopted, whereby John removed the crown of the Privet trees leaving the stump to be “cut and painted” on the Privet Teams visit. In this way a massive amount of seed was stopped from entering into the environment.

Privet makes an average firewood and the numerous piles, one of which can be seen in the photo, will be used for heating over the winter months.

John’s property contains a significant rainforest remnant which provides an ecological link to nearby natural areas and has good potential for natural regeneration to occur.
