Roadside Privet Control

Return to:

On Thursday 17th October community volunteers, council officers, a representative from NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and contractors embarked on an ambitious attempt to remove Privet from approximately 1000 metres of the road reserve at Barrengarry.

Three work days were organised at fortnightly intervals. The entire project was managed to protect the safety of volunteers as well as minimising disruption to traffic.

Chainsaws were used on the larger specimens with the aim to contain the current levels of Large and Small-Leaved Privet occurring along one of the major gateways into the Shoalhaven.
