Best Practice Considerations

Return to:

Cut and Paint technique remains one of the most effective methods for dealing with woody weeds such as Privet.

One of the major departures from best practice is the tendency to cut the stump too high (10 –15cm) from the ground.

The remaining woody sticks act as a trip hazard and provide the potential for some one impaling themselves.

Avoid an ugly incident by cutting stems as low to the ground as possible This will also increase the effectiveness of the herbicide since it has less distance to travel to the roots.
