For all general rate enquiries please call – (02) 4429 3210, fax (02) 4429 3161 or email council@shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au.
In accordance with the Local Government Act, 1993, Council has adopted base amounts (except for Residential – Non Urban in which a minimum rate is used) for the current rating period.
For the Business – Permit and the Sussex Area Special Rating Categories no base amount or minimum rate is used but an ad valorem rate in the dollar only applies.
If you experience financial hardship in paying your rates due to the recent valuation increases, please contact Council’s Rates Department to discuss this matter further.
Council has an online Rates & Charges Calculator
Council assists eligible pensioners by providing a rate rebate and by allowing additional time to pay the rates without incurring interest charges.
If you have been issued with a Pensioner Concession Card or a ‘TPI’ Gold Repatriation Health Card or an ‘EDA’ Gold Repatriation Health Card, you may be eligible for a rebate on your rates and charges. You must however own the property at the time the rate notice is served and it must be your sole or principal home.
If you are issued one of the cards mentioned above after the rate notice has been served, you may still be eligible for a rebate but it will be proportional to the number of rate instalments left payable.
All eligible pensioners have until 31st May of each year to pay their current rates in full, ‘interest free’.
Note: Should there be a change to ownership details or pensioner card eligibility, please contact Council's Rates Department.
