-Nature Conservation

NPWS increasing protection of shorebird nesting site at mouth of Berrara Creek

Rehabilitation of Dyballs, Errol Bond and Ski Beach Reserves completed 2006

Lake Education Signage designed and in production for installation in 2006

Foreshore rehabilitation project funded under the 2008 Estuary Program for Berrarra Creek reserve is currently in the design phase

Bush care group is active in restoring riparian vegetation on Berrara Creek Flats reserve

-Water Quality

 Generally good

As the lake is closed for long periods the salinity is generally lower

-Erosion and Sedimentation

Low risk with expected range of natural bank dynamics

Monitoring of high use recreation areas for accelerated degradation is ongoing

-Cultural Heritage

 Burial site protected during 2007

-Flooding

Low risk

-Fishery

 

-Recreation, Waterway Access & Boating

Draft Boat users Plan of Management completed in 2005

 

-Visual Quality

 Very good

 

-Estuary Entrance

Entrance Management Policy completed in 2003 under Estuary Forward Program recommending the raising of the opening intervention level to 2.4m AHD
