Estuary Name:

LAKE WOLLUMBOOLA

Status of plan:

Plan adopted (July 1999) and currently under review by DECC as part of the Comprehensive Coastal Lake assessment

Actions undertaken:

 Lake Wollumboola bed to 0.86 AHD gazetted as National Park in 2003

-Nature Conservation

Odour Processes Study completed.

Study into the production of hydrogen sulphide gas in lake sediments completed

Estuary Program interpretive foreshore walk and management plan of the foreshore reserves between the boat ramp and Lakeside Park completed including viewing platforms and foreshore track definition

 

-Water Quality

Study identified the processes involved with the production of odour from the lake

2006 road verge sealing works proposed for Culburra Beach town area draining to the lake. This will reduce transport of fine sediment and nutrients from the urban area.

-Erosion and Sedimentation

Stormwater channels at Lakeside park and boat ramp: sedimentation ponds and reed filter beds constructed 2001.

Sheepwash creekline revegetation completed 2001.

-Cultural Heritage

Flood Study programmed 2004-2005

-Recreation, Waterway Access & Boating

Sheep wash creek walking track bridge constructed 2001

Landscape upgrades of Lakeside Park and Boat ramp reserve completed 2001

Safe swimming area proposed adjacent to Lakeside Park 2003

Entrance Management Policy to prepared  in 2003 by NPWS and intervention remains the responsibility of NPWS
