Indicator description

What does the Data tell us for 2005/2006
Berrara Creek
Throughout the 2005-06 sampling period, Berrara Creek exhibited
generally good results in terms of water quality. However, bacterial levels at
the times of sampling were well above swimming guidelines.
Swan Lake
The water quality index (WQI) rating at site 37, located at the bridge
on The Springs Road was 'Good' for the 2005/06 reporting period. The rating was
restricted to "good" due to higher pH levels combined with elevated nitrogen
levels in November 2005 and June 2006. Chlorophyll-a levels were negligible
thought. Nitrogen frequently exceeds the guideline value of 0.5 mg/L around site
37 though Phosphorous rarely exceeds its guideline value of 0.05 mg/mL. Faecal
coliforms were lower than the swimming guideline of 150 cfu/100mL across all
sites reflecting the lack of runoff over the reporting period.
