Home | Water | Water Quality & Ecology | Surface Water Quality | Shoalhaven River | 2006 What does the Data tell us for 2005/2006The Water Quality Index for the reporting period 2004/05 ended well with all 5 WQI sites rating in the high "good" category in June 2005. This was due to a reduction in Phosphorous and Nitrogen, faecal coliforms and pH being closer to neutral. Faecal coliform contamination at the reported sites has remained mostly below the swimming guideline with just the one sample of 1652 cfu/100mL in December 2004 at Site 148 located between the sailing club and the bridge exceeding the recommended 150 cfu/100mL of water sampled. Nutrient levels were well below the guideline values during the reporting period with Nitrogen staying below the guideline of 0.5 mg/L for the last 3 years.
