What does the Data tell us for 2004

Wattamolla rainfall station showed an overall decrease in rainfall for the 2003/04 period, with average monthly rainfall falling from 86 to 80 mm. However, Barrengarry station exhibited a slight rise of 20mm in total rainfall for the year, but was still significantly lower than the long-term yearly averages (approximately 400 mm or 36% less rainfall). HMAS Albatross (Nowra) showed a similar rainfall accumulation as Barrengarry, still significantly below the long-term average rainfall, which has been indicative of the climate over the past 12 months. Bendeela showed rainfall was 40% below the long-term average, however there was greater rainfall in 2003/04 than 2002/03. Rainfall monthly accumulation at Milton for 2003/04 was 17% lower than 2002/03.

The overall analysis shows that rainfall is between 28% and 41% lower than the long-term averages for each of the sites. Variability is seen between the three rainfall stations in Kangaroo Valley. These differences are highlighted in October 2003, January 2004 and May 2004 when the rainfall varies widely across each of the sites.
